Turmeric Rice

Turmeric rice


In South Africa, we call this yellow rice, and it is a prefect side dish to so many of our meals, Bobotie, Curry, a braai and stew. This dish is inexpensive and easy to make.

Ingredients:

1 cup of white rice

½ teaspoon of turmeric

salt

1/3 cup of raisins (optional)

Method:

Rinse the rice thoroughly with water.

Soak the rice in warm water foe 15 minutes

Bring water to a boil in a small pot

Add some salt to the boiling water and add the soaked rice

Let cook for 10 minutes then add a spoon of turmeric

Cook until the water is absorbed

Stir with a fork to make it nice and fluffy

Add raisins and serve with your favourite main dish!
